This is the audio version of 'how the other half lives' – well, 0.1% of them, maybe. Here are 10 speaker systems that would test the bank balance of even the best heeled folk.
Top of the heap is the Grand Enigma, installed in the world’s best kept cellar – really – and which costs a mere £500,000 and one that I’ve covered here.
There’s also the liquid sex that is the Ross Lovegrove designed KEF Muons which obviously meant for the poor-rich people at £65,000 a pair.
There are lots of shiny ear-candy on offer here but my faves are probably the giant, organic-looking Sphaeron Excaliburs from Acapella [above]. They cost just £160,000 and need a room that’s a minimum of 40m-square. Who says size isn’t everything?-

Those are just stupid and ridiculous. I mean come on, really.

The best surround set of speakers to have are seperate floorstanding ones.

A set of 50 - 60 inch floorstanding speakers (the ones that you can fill the bottom of the speaker with either sand or lead ball shots, that way you get better acoustics), a descent 30" wide central speaker (again with lead shots or sand), and a decent set of 5 - 7 inch rear surround speakers that can be either floor standing or wall mounted, but without the lead shot or sand install.

The sub is best to have an active woofer, I'd say about 10" max. Anything bigger and you'd have too much bass and it would just constantly rattle, anything smaller, and you'd have to keep constantly turn up the bass for different audio environments.
