Jus wondering if anyone could help me with a question....

How would you define the profit earned by a business during an accounting period?

jus a bit stuck on what to write ?:

Ermmm...something like takings minus overheads and expenditure, what ever is left over is profit?

u still need help on this? Accounting isn't my main expertise but I did do it during my degree and elements of it in my work.
