The image of the innocent Asian woman keeping her legs shut until the night her groom in shining pagri deflowers her is surely the stuff of yesteryear. To the modern Asian woman playing the dating game, the thought of forgoing sex is as bizarre as going to the cinema blindfolded. Or is it? Is holding on to your virginity a symbol of an outdated era, or is having sex a sign of your sexual liberation? When a man sleeps around, he gets the respect of his peers, while women doing the same are branded ‘sluts’ – does that mean we can only expect respect once we stop shagging around? Don’t we also have the right to ‘window shop’ to find the one that fits perfectly? Or are we entering the moral free zone our aunties always said we’d end up in?

Well its usually women who judge other women as sluts.
Anyway its obviously people personal decisions, Id like to keep it in my pants till I get hitched :)

i tink the topic of sex has generally become slightly more contextualised in society today in the way that some often dont feel that virginity is as important as it was in the olden days and peer pressure and general pressure often doesnt help

No, not well said. Part of it is right i agree, you arent supposed to brand people names but you are supposed to stop ghunnah if you see it. So if a fellow brother or sister is sleeping around you should at least try and tell them the wrong in it etc.

Hmm...youre right. Just remember it wasnt long ago that the issue of sex was unheard of in public? In the 1940's-1950's, to reveal a bit of flesh in public was considered very "out of the ordinary", even for men. It is the way society has "progressed" into the current age. For example, shows like "Big Brother", explicit TV shows on Channel Four after the watershed and pornography is evident that society has become more relax on the issues of masculinity/femininity. Even Bollywood as well. In ma parents days, apparently Bollywood was nuthing compared to what it is now. Movies Like "jism" wouldve been banned in those times! :oh....:lol:.....

I dont think you can blame it all on Bollywood, i agree its changed BIG TIME over the last few years but this sex before marriage has been going on way before any of these movies came out. Plus Bollywood isnt the only industry that shows these type of films. Hollywood has done for years, Soaps like Eastenders have for years as well.
Also i dont think you can just say only guys call girls 'sluts' because i guarantee girls do it as well, maybe even more.
Jus cause we're asian doesn't make us any less human...

As for your mate depends on how he used the sex... if you're both in a loving committed relationship, sex can make that bond & love stronger. One night stands - aint no love there.. thats jus sex and nothing more... but ya know whatever rocks your boat.

Excluding the religious aspect, why do you guys think its wrong to have sex before marriage with your gf/bf? Or has your view simply submerged from what your religion tells you?
