Half of young women say they are unhappy with their bodies, but naturally slim women find the "size zero" debate focuses all eyes on what they eat, says Rebecca Hedges in our Readers' Column.
I'm pocket-sized - five foot two and a UK size six. So a similar size to Kylie, and only fractionally taller than Nicole Richie.
Many times I've been referred to as quite childlike because of my size. And you get the "thread leg" comments; people can be pretty harsh.
People always comment on how much I eat, especially since I'm a vegetarian. I went to a pub on a boating holiday last year and the vegetarian option was a nut roast - I was so excited that there actually was a veggie option that I shovelled away 15 roast potatoes.
The rest of them couldn't believe how much I ate: "Where do you put it all?"

Anyone here a size zero?! I think its disgusting, fair enough ppl want to be slim ~ buy dayum this is a step too far!

Size zero is a bit scary and unattractive..I'm a comfortable 8/10. And I'm happy with all I got. Some people can't help being skinny. I have friends who are skinny like that but they're naturally like that. You should see how much they eat. They just have REALLY good metabolisms. They do get annoyed when people comment on how skinny they are and ask if they eat..don't blame them.
I get annoyed when people who are obviously no where near fat complain about their weight. Pathetic!

Its not that easy once an anorexic or bulemic... they believe they are always too fat... for someone in that situation to put weight back on like that would be distressing not to mention completely traumatising and could even lead toextremes such as suicide. These sorts of situations need to be dealt with carefully.

I think there needs to be more focus on being healthy and fit as opposed to what your dress size is. Just because someone is considered 'slim' does not mean they are physically fit (by this I mean exercise wise).
Clearly, being overweight has become such an issue in current society and rightly so because the repercussions on your health are enormous. However, the same implications occur if your aiming to be a size zero, because many people might be their ideal BMI, but will strive no matter what extreme to achieve a size zero because it’s the ‘fashion’.

I think if a woman is naturally that thin then so be it, but I don't think I'd ever strive to look that thin like that woman in the above pic.
it's sick...why some people choose to look like skeletons is crazy...most likely end up crippled later in life due to lack of muscles

but if you are naturally skinny its a different story, but if you do all you can to look like that then somethin is wrong. it may look good on some people, but i have not seen it as of yet.

The problem with todays society is that looks mean everything. I'm a tubby girl. I'm a size 12 and I haven't got a problem admitting that. I have your typical Punjabi womans body, big thighs, big bum, big everything really. I have a bit of a belly and even stuggle to hold it in sometimes! (More so now that I eat too many pies hehe!). But I really couldn't and wouldn't want to look like the second picture of Louise. Its too skinny and I would rather have big boobs and bum than bones all round.

The sad truth is this is all a load of bull really. Being average is probably best, health is wealth and all that. And thats true about clothing... i was looking at some pics of me in year 7 and i looked scary as hell! then i didnt have curves butt my gosh it was ekk clothes hanged of me..
im pretty slim now but im naturally like that.. now ive developed curves and stuff im not scary skinny no more and im happy with that! the other day was at lakeside with my cuzin and i was like maan i wish i was fat ( didnt mean it in an offensive way) u no a few more sizes bigger i'd get things cheaper at least and i'd always find my size
i'm ideally a size 6... but i have problem finding stuff in size 6... ( apart from sum WOW tops from asos ?> ) so i always tend to wear size 8 and even that u have issues...

The problem with todays society is that looks mean everything. I'm a tubby girl. I'm a size 12 and I haven't got a problem admitting that. I have your typical Punjabi womans body, big thighs, big bum, big everything really. I have a bit of a belly and even stuggle to hold it in sometimes! (More so now that I eat too many pies hehe!). But I really couldn't and wouldn't want to look like the second picture of Louise. Its too skinny and I would rather have big boobs and bum than bones all round.
Every guy I know hates skinny girls. Its something which women aspire to for what reason I don't know. Maybe they think clothes look better or that its just more attractive or what I don't know. The sad truth is this is all a load of bull really. Being average is probably best, health is wealth and all that. Its one thing being naturally slim like Cheeky Princess who can eat kebabs but still be a sixe 6. But its quite another going on diet fad after diet fad and losing weight to get to a weight and size which is not natural.
At the end of the day even if you are naturally slim, you will be told to try and put on weight. It affects everything from you periods to your skin.

You may perceive a size zero to be attractive but where the danger lies is if you are willing to trade your long-term health and well being for the sake of fashion. Go to any doctor and they will advise you on the negative effects of fad diets and that is a diet that is asking you to eliminate an entire food group(s) or skilling meals entirely! Your body will not function at its best, you won't receive your required nutritional needs and most likely once your diet ends, the weight you lost will quickly return.
Looking healthy and being healthy is 2 different things.

I know people size 14 an bigger who still look good in clothes because they wear the right type of clothes that fits ther exact shape.
