Blank Canvas. - The Asian Place - Desi Forum

So i have a passion for art as you guys already know and Mothers bought this uber huge canvas for me as she found it somewhere for a relatively cheap price.

She wants me to paint something for her for the main hall way but i really cant think of anything. I think im better with my sketches and jee its been several months since i last did any creative stuff. Usually i come up with so many crazy ideas but i just dont know this time.. first i was thinking of copying a verse from the Quran and kind of doing some calligraphy shizzle but i dont really know how thats going to go down.. or perhaps something flower-ish...hmm any suggestions you arty people? Inspire me.

This might sound nuts but when im trying to think of stuff for my projects i usually go for a walk with my camera and just take loads of snaps.. I look through them and i get some kind of idea..

if u want something islamic but not do the whole verses thing - maybe some islamic iconography?

Yea i do the same Diva..i guess i'll wait till my exams completed and see.

Im going to be going on holiday to Spain this summer as well, either to Granda or Seville so i think i'll take some pictures there ! Hopefully they'l insipre me!

Oh most def those will be some form of inspiration, the Islamic art/architecture over there is absolutely amazing. I recently did Zoomorphic Calligraphy on to canvas, look in to it doll. I think that'd be nice

If you have something worthwhile to add to a post then do so, otherwise it's a waste of time for the thread poster, no?

Not sure how you feel about abstract art.

I just love colours.

Pointilism is also something I get drawn to.
Just something about how colours mesh into each other, and then create a proper structured image.

how did you do on this? if your're doing a piece for the hall, bear in mine your colour scheme, get a pen and paper and scribble away, literally scribble! not heavily though. then if you cut a square out of another paper and sort of use it as your canvas proportion thing... find some nice scribbles and paint them abstractly, yet working the chosed scribbles into an abstract picture... with the chosen colour scheme. you may think im chattin ballsacks here but it does work

random lines and squares are in at the moment for hanging pieces
if not you could always do an andy warhol and paint a picture of your family in levels with tones and shades of one colour.

Hate to be that annoying person but it all depends on your budget I'm afraid as to what people might suggest

Oh and I were you I would really think about upgrading to Blu-ray and High Def - you no doubt will in the future, so just get it done now
