Chun-Li Street Fighter Movie Coming

Ashok Amritraj's Hyde Park Entertainment and Capcom Ltd. are developing a new movie based on the popular videogame franchise "Street Fighter," says Variety. Screenwriter Justin Marks has been hired to adapt.

Hyde Park and Capcom -- Japanese publisher of "Street Fighter" -- will produce the film in a joint venture.

The movie will focus on the game's most popular female fighter, Chun-Li, but the exact storyline is being kept under wraps.

In 1994, Universal released a Street Fighter movie starring Jean-Claude Van Damme that featured most of the characters from the game.

Hyde Park and Capcom's film is targeted to be released in 2008, the 20th anniversary of the game franchise.

Marks just completed writing Voltran for producer Mark Gordon.

if theres anyone here who reads gaming central on teletext ,
will know that all game-to movie films are the worst in existance.

and are always a flop,

with the only exeption of films that dont even follow the games story lines

such as resident evil.

except a bloody big flop coming to a cinema near you

For those of you who watch smallville like myself will know Kristin Kreuk aka "Lana" will be starring as Chun-Li in this new Street Fighter film.

I know Kristin Kreuk will do a brilliant job of acting as Chun Li. Thats not the point. It won't be good like mortal kombat.

What are you talking about Kristin Kreuk can't act for shit, she has no acting skills what so ever, she was shit in Smallville. The only thing good about her is that shes smoking hawwt. She would never do Chun Li justice on the acting front NEVER.

Tbh, i don't think they could make it a movie - the last one was a flop. Keep it anime and leave it at that. Don't kill the classic again.

Might I add she is a professional gymnast well before she was an actress.. you might wana reconsider her in this role

i would've prefered to see lucy liu or someone in that role...

oh...and robin shou is gonna be in the movie..he's playing a character called gen...

robin shou is the one who played liu kang in mortal kombat...

its been 14 years since the first movie....they have had a lot of time to get some nice cgi in the movie...

i think the story is about chun li gettin her revenge with bison
