Anyone into Cars?
I need to know what software I need to get into the ECU of vehicles, they might be imported or UK, Japanese or Generally from Europe. So I need knowledge on vehicle system tweaks that will allow me to get some BHP out of any car I modify. Also I would like to know how I can change over an ECU of a vehicle from Automatic transmission to Manual. The issue is that all this isn't covered at College as it is only done at University. Any help would be appreciated. (Ritz you got a similar message like this in your PM, its my brother so stay in touch with him.) But everyone else into cars n shit can answer too please!

The best he can do is just search the internet for the info.
The info that he will come across on the internet will be much more extensive than anyone can give you. People may cut corners and not tell you or forget to tell you things. There are loads of wiki's out there from people who have done it successfully and also share their experiences on how they did it, what they did at what stage and what they fucked up and so forth.

ecu language is different from make to make. obbdI II etc no manufacture will put out any info on reading ecu data. if you want to "chip" at home then you need the right sort of chip, a programmer and programming knowledge you would also need access to a rolling road to be able to efficiently map the ignition timing. this will only work on older cars theres a guy on clubpolo who sells chips like this for the mk3 polo.
as far as swapping ecus from manual to auto transmission its just a case of swapping the ecu and loom but doing that you will have problems with the factory immobilizer you will need to reprogram the ecu so you will need sophisticated programing tools i would sugest you junk the ecu and go for a stand alone unit and have it mapped on a rolling road something like megasquirt which you build your self and plug into your laptop |
