All this ASCII stuff and EBCDIC stuff is killing me.
Whats the difference between binary and binary coded decimal?? Binary is: 128 64 32 16 8 4 2 This is right yes? All the relavant numbers go under each section? So whats BCD then? ![]() And no pasting links from wikipedia and google cos I tried that already and theres no good explainations from there!

BCD is binary coded decimal but then again wat exactly are u looking for?
if u asking the difference between Binary and BCD ?? The difference between binary and BCD storage is that binary stores the entire value as a single binary number, whereas BCD encodes each digit independently. The results are not the same. For example, here's the value 1234 stored in binary and BCD format, using 2 bytes: Decimal: 1234 Binary: 00000100 11010010 BCD: 00010010 00110100 makes sense? |

yes in binary it would be that, and in BCD BCD 26: 00100110 basically all u r doing is first writing binary for 2 and then binary for 6, thats how u get BCD value. whereas in Binary u convert the whole number not break it up.... |
