What are the advantages of having the internet?
It brings a wealth of information to you, it's better than having a library in your home. In fact the internet is the biggest library in the world. With information available 24/7 when you need it. It's convenient, barr the obvious subscription type sites, it's free. It's opening up the world in ways that were never possible before, it gives you the power to learn about whatever you want to learn about, do whatever you want to do, in a pace that you want to do it in. It's speeding up the development of developing countries, globalising business methods. The internet gives you power. How you use that power is up to you, you can use it to your advantage or to your disadvantage or both.... .. What are the disadvantages of having the internet? ie: no free time for anything else There is no-one organisation controlling the content on the internet, there can be all sorts of stuff that may be unsuitable for certain people i.e kids, and it's access is unrestricted. So vast is the internet whatever you want to find, you can find it. Things that countries consider illegal, or what societies frown on, porn, whatever your mind can conjour up, its on the internet. What some may consider a benefit is actually damaging to others i.e free movies!! yay! but not so good for the movie industry etc. In otherwords the internet can be abused by the person using it, it's easily exploitable and it's in your home, where you can hide what your doing.. Well you can be monitored but thats also a disadvantage, the internet empowers you as users and also empowers criminals to exploit your personal information and surfing habits with software that is transfrerred via the internet... bla bla bla bored now... .. Have you found that using the internet had made you cut back on other technologies like TV, hi-fi music system or mobile phone etc? If so which technologies have you cut back on due to being on the internet instead? .. Has using the internet had an impact on your social life if so how?
