Your Speciality - The Asian Place - Desi Forum

Not sure if Top Chef airs in the uk, but I love it. Basically the show comprises of chefs competing against each other in weekly challenges. They are judged by a panel of professional chefs (the likes of not so subtle Anthony Bourdain - absolute legend!) and other notables from the food and wine industry with one or more contestants eliminated each week. The food always looks absolutely delicious and everytime I watch I feel inspired to cook and eat!

So I’m just wondering what is your one speciality? What do you enjoy cooking? (that's if you do)

For me, since I lived in Malaysia for a few years ..I naturally have grown up more on that kind of cuisine (probably helps with the chilli addiction) ..so it has to be my soupy rice noodles (tofu, bean sprouts, veges) with chicken dumplings - with extra chilli/black pepper.

I dunno, I like experimenting in the kitchen whenever I'm making something and I make everything Desi-fied like Lasagne, Pasta and Shepherd's Pie!

my mum does that, its a nnoying sometimes, cos sometimes you just wana eat something thats not so desi-fied lol

me... i like experimenting on different things, i like cooking anything really...

hhmm good thread ranj, i've loved cooking since like the age of 13, always been experimenting in teh kitchen...

i love cooking oriental food whichis probably why i love chinese, malaysian etc foods...
i also love cooking medditeranean food also... have a thing for italian as well..

my speciality is probably the more oriental style dishes, stir fried rice/noodles with satay skewed chicken / or normal chicken...

I just dont have the time to cook. If i did i know it would be chinese.

Malaysian food is the yummiest food, it hits the spot especially moteyra rice

Everything? ha : $ i dunoo.. ok this sounds so big headed but everything i cook ends up turning out nice?No like seriously it does. Hm I just experiment and voila..tastes yummy.

Hmm but if i had 2 chose ONE i think it would be my chicken, yoghurt and corriander curry! oh and my creamy mushroom chicken curry Oh (i know i said one but : $) and my herby pasta bake! thats sexhual. < 3

Yeah I love satay too especially when its done right and it just slides off the skewer.

Well its all about experimenting and trying out and seeing what works and doesn't. I guess your lucky Shaz, not everything I make turns out as well as I would like it too.

Well when i was in egypt studying the malaysian government made a hostel/restraunt/embassy/games etc a minute walk away from campus...I use to go there everyday because it was yum,, makorana special everyday and tea with 3 of malaysian type looking donuts..it was well nice there, all the staff were students and being regular u get to know staff...man they had phiranas in that place...it was fun when they 1st bought it...they dropped pieces of meat inside...lol
