I think anything that comes from the sea is halal.

Apart from carnivores...

Lucy is right...thats one of the longest debate standing wether they're allowed or not allowed:

Btw, I've done some reading at I think all FISH from the sea are allowed to be eaten. Since Prawn is not considered to be a fish, thats where the arguement comes into it.

Uhuh..lol Prawn Biryani is so noice.

Fish that are carnivores and that are poisonous aint allowed! And apparently crab ain't allowed either? Tut! The amount of times I've had Crab soup at Ramada Jarvis

its a case of some are not recommended

fish are

prawns arent simply cause of the time they take to digest and other things

other shell fish such as crabs shrimps etc arent either

Its Ok To eat Them they are Halal But
Not recomended to eat ( Makroo) only
Because it eats the waste of other fishes
and sea animals and also our Nabi(pbuh)
didn't like to eat it.
there is no gunah to eat them.

Crab, oysters. lobsters... basically any shellfish are a no-no. Prawns are makrooh... mani's quote above explains it well.

From what ive heard parts of a crab are halal to eat.. (not the claws) same with lobsters...

Squid and Octopuss are a defo no no
