Good books to read: - The Asian Place - Desi Forum

OK I need a good book to read.

I only read philosophy books or those about interesting people like lately I've been reading about Hannibal, before that I was reading Malcolm-X's biography.

My favourite books are ones like The Prince by Nicolo Machiavelli and the Art of War by Sun Tzu.

NO FICTION unless it is philosophical, I'm into my poetry too so any good poets you can recommend I would be grateful.

Man dont believe that shit poetry is an expression of ones inner self theres no right or wrong in poetry its just raw feelings in words.

Socrates was told his writing weres wrong now the world functions to his words, 2pac was told he couldnt rap well but he sold tens of millions.

How can you not like fiction?? Fiction is too good nowadays. Last year In the summer hols I was kinda addicted to Phillip Pullman (for a third time running), William Nicholson and Garth Nix....

I suggest you read Jayne Eyre by charlotte bronte. Thats pretty good although you say you dont like fiction, but Id recommend it nevertheless.

Thing about reading is it takes a lot of time to read and I'm very time concious so I only like reading something I gain from.

With philosophy books its like you see another side of the world and same with poetry.

With fiction I would rather watch a movie and get a similar effect in less time, you ever seen Lord of the Rings.. man come on that is just pure class.

Ah ok, I see where youre coming from. Its just that I was kinda addicted to reading since I was a lil munchkin, so Id prefer a good fiction book over a movie (yes I know

), but yes of course I like a good movie. Lord of the rings was one of DEE best. Especially that part when Gandalf showed his face over that ridge and came with his army in the return of the king and starting owning!
Yeh with philosophy and poetry you do get a lot of insight to reality. I suggest you read Allama Iqbal's Literature then. That is first rate stuff.
