I walk most places.
...if I feel really lazy, or if it really is too far away, I catch the bus.

I force my family to learn about recycling, and I actually make them use the Black Box that the council gives us.
A family of 6 means a lot of waste, and more than half of that is reusable.
There's a charity shop that knows our names now, because I make my siblings pack their old clothes up every quarter.
I can't believe we used to just throw them in the bin!

I'm pushing my father to get a water butt after Winter.
My parents have green fingers, and so it makes sense to make use of the rain water to water the plants, rather than tap water.

Since I've started paying for the utilities in the house, I've become a right stinge.
I switch off all the sockets, when they're not being used.
I shout, scream and argue about why lights are left on for no reason.
...and I've bought my parents jumpers, slipper socks and fleece clothes so that they don't keep putting the heat on.

Gosh, I sound like a weird fanatic.
...but I didn't do all these things in one go.
It's small changes, but they work out better.

From now I will use my hand and not toilet paper.

ermmm ok..... I dont think I have made any drastic changes but I will one day change all the lightbulbs in the house to the energy saving ones and might even invest in solar power if im in a settled job. I'll do the seperate plastics thingy if I find a place for it nearby.

Also use green paint on my body and pretend im the Hulk.

Recycle paper...in our house a HELL of a lot of paper is thrown away. Me and my sister contribute to at least 70% of the total. So we thought "recycle".

Energy saving lightbulbs are used.

Um..I think thats about it? LoL.

For book readers, there's a site where you can buy books dirt cheap, sell your books, and contribute to the Woodland Trust whilst doing so.

Green Metropolis

It's the little things that help make big differences.

I'm sure after all those adverts on TV about switching to lower temperature washes, no one washes above 40 degrees anymore.
(Unless you have a shit ridden white shirt that needs to power cleaned!).

Another thing that annoys me, electrical things left on standby.
Why!?

Yeh...and apparently brushing your teeth without the tap running...or when you want one cup of tea, don't boil the full kettle.

People who leave appliances on standby, they themselves will suffer. The machine uses more energy (and therefore your electric meter) when its on standby compared to when it is actually turned on.

My mum always fills up the kettle *over* the maximum limit.
Only to have one tiny cup of tea.
It infuriates me.

Ive never done that turn off by the switch stuff, I thought it nacks up the technology constantly switching it off by the mains i.e. sky. Should do though, we have like 3 comps and enough tv's which are all left on standby.

Gota do the tap thing, I always leave it running when brushing my teethies.

Ok.
No one agrees with me on this, but I still believe it strongly.
There's no point in constantly switching things on and off, I swear that uses more energy, than conserving it.
Like, the computer, if we had it our parent's way, we'd be switching it on and off atleast 3 times in an hour, considering we're only on the computer for about 20 minutes at a time...
But, I'd rather put it on "sleep" mode or something, than constantly having to shut down and then start it up again.

No one agrees with me.
