What do you guys think of arranged mariages?

I hope she gets what she wants, that marriage is haram and the parents don't even bother considering that.

ahhh this is a great subject as i too have a great depth of knowledge and will share with u all mere mortals..... arrange marriage has 2 sides....one where u marry someone just cause he/she is a relative to you and the other is whom ur parents think is a person for u.

another think u have to think about is the different up bringin esp if the person is from bangladesh. u love rock music she likes baul.... it get tricky.

and one more thing most peeps in bangladesh sees marriage to a ''londoner'' as a visa compromise esp the relative.

i have seen too much of these marriages... some good some bad and some really ugly... its a matter of luck. so ask yourself ...... do you feel lucky

Marriage is sacred whether it be 'love' or 'arranged', both require commitment, the key factors to a successful, blessed marriage, are not varied amongst the two.

I’d say exactly what I stated in the generic forums of this site. I don't have issues having an arranged marriage, nowadays it seems individuals, that I come across within other communities, and quite surprisingly, some amongst the South Asians, are somewhat confound by the thought of "Arranged marriages", considering it to be "forced".

Bengaliroots - In regards to what you stated in your original post. From all that it seems, it doesn't seem like an "arranged marriage", which like I said is usually misinterpreted, it's force rather, so at the very least I shall hope improve.

Although I'm personally not, the closest to an almost perfect role model Islamically, all I CAN say is that, forced marriages are not Islamically justified.

I just watched a program on youtube called, "Every marriage starts with tears".
Its about this east London girl called Shahanara Behum who has an arranged marriage in Bangladesh, it goes through all her family problems etc.
Good watch, it may make you feel disgusted of the culture of the family.

Both arrange marriages and love marrief either lasts or does not.
I guess its fate. or am I wrong?
