Cupping
Someone told me about this a few days ago, it's the first I heard of it. They told me it's a sunnah to do but I thought inflicting harm on your body is haram?
I've read up on it and it is apparently a sunnah. It's meant to get all the bad blood and toxins out of your body. Personally, it looks way too painful to me.
Has anyone had it done and does it actually work?

Where's the proof that this is actually a sunnah?
What you mean by cupping? Boiling water in cups over your body?
-
If you want toxins out your body just get a masseus to do a few lymphatic drainage techniques on you rther than doing this longness...
Never ever heard it before and did the person who told you say where he/she read it?

I've never heard before that Cupping is sunnah.
But it does work though, my mom got it done but it's a very long process, a simple massage as Shelim said, would work more efficiently.

It's called Al-hijama, Chinese people do it aswell.
Here's a couple of ahadith on it
Ibn ‘Abbaas (may Allaah be pleased with them both) reported that the Prophet (PBUH) said: “Healing is to be found in three things: drinking honey, the knife of the cupper, and cauterization of fire.” (Reported by al-Bukhaari, 10/136).
According to a hadeeth narrated by Jaabir (may Allaah be pleased with him), the Prophet (PBUH) said: “If there is any good in your medical treatments, it is in the knife of the cupper, drinking honey, or cauterization with fire, as appropriate to the cause of the illness, but I would not like to be cauterized.” (Reported by al-Bukhaari, 10/139)
(I did get these from the internet so not sure how accurate they may be 8-) - not a reliable source I know!)
I can't explain it properly but but basically what it is a partial vacuum is created in cups placed on the skin by suction. This draws blood up, the cup is then taken off and within that circle holes are poked. The cup is put back on and the suctions causes the bad blood and toxins to come through the holes.... does that make sense?
It's meant to cure loads of health problems like back aches, stomach pains etc etc

Oh I see...well regardless, it does work, that I know.
Sounds a bit like using leeches on ya.

It is sunnah!, and its painless, old fashion anesthetic is used.
a heated glass it placed upon the desired area where cuts have been made and it sucks out bad blood.
