Aslaams
Good question. There are lots of views on this. Woman are not allowed to touch the Qur'an and obv read their prayers however what they can do is do du'a (supplication) and Zhikr (remembrance of Allah). So they are still reaping the rewards in Ramadan. This could be reciting the names of Allah etc..I dont really have any du'as atm. (sorry!) Im half and half on if a woman can recite the Qur'an, but ive read somewhere they can as long as you dont touch it, similarly you can hear/read the quran/reciation on TV too. ![]() Whilst a woman is unable to fast, I think it's best to read as much as you can to increase your knowledge in islam. and it's also a good idea to go to islamic classes/talks/lectures. During ramadan Im sure theres quite a few. Pls dont quote me on anything, I could be wrong, it's always best to check with someone more learned! Ps. In regards to religious necklaces - If you cant touch the Qur'an then i would guess you cant wear a religous necklace. W'salaams. |

I'm sure you can read tasbih when you're on... also with regards to the Qur'an, you can't touch/read it yourself, but you can listen to someone else recite it...
And yes, theres nothing wrong with reciting duas and durood shareef. Religious necklace thing: People who wear taweez (which has an extract of the Qur'an in) wear it through their monthly cycle - it's not taken off. But then again, it's inside that metal thingummy, n a religious necklace, the Arabic writing is on your skin... So erm... duno, I don't wear them. We have a few tiny lockets, that have Ayatul Kursi written on them (really small)..some say it's good to carry the Ayat on your body, others disagree... *shrugs*

I disagree with religious necklaces generally because you'll be going toilet (im guessing your human) and be doing sinful things and its kinda disrespectful.. right?

I do have a religious necklace with the verse of the throne on it. I dont wear it now but I used to. If i ever did go to the toilet i would keep it under my clothes. I purely wore it because i wanted too, not for any other reasons. In regards to the writing in bold - its funny how we can have decoration pieces/ornaments or even framed pictures with Allah written on it in our houses, and yet their are many sinful things that can be done in a house...would that be disrespectful too? |

I agree with Guj. Just to add, if you wear a necklace or a religious pendant you have to be careful not to commit Shirk - assigning partners with Allah. You must understand that the religious pendant has no bearing or control over you, it has no power to do any good for you nor does it have any power to do bad for you... You should not have Taveezes with anything other than what is written in the Quran in them, so no mumbo jumbo Taveezes by imams. In general if you wear one, you should keep it under your clothes if you're in the loo... But like Guj said and a bit more, if you were sexually active, would you still keep the religious pendant on full show while you were getting down to the dirty? ..... Some people do.... Ultimately if you start worshiping the pendant or thinking it is protecting you, then you shouldn't wear one. As that is Shirk, and Shirk is the one sin Allah will not forgive on Judgement Day.

Thats so true. People do wear taweez and keep other little 'charms' believing it will protect them from evil, causing shirk like you said. Astagferullah. |

That's all good and well, but if you want to be closer to Allah and show your love for him, then you should follow the Sunah of Prophet Muhammad (PBUH) and not create your own or follow avenues that are borne from innovation and bidah. Sounds like you using the pendant as a intercessor between you and Allah, but remember intercessors are haraam, and pendants are only but a point of view away from being a ornament of worship and almost a idol itself... If you follow the Sunah and what Allah himself revealed in the Quran to the best of your ability, and with a clean and honest heart, then surely He will be pleased with you, as he already told you it will..... Taveezes are almost black magic and witchcraft....
