... do you believe/follow your religion?
I'm not asking what your religion says about this .. but why do you as an individual follow and/or practice a certain religion? I know most people have grown up with their religion but why have you stuck with it? If you haven't stuck with it, why'd you stop? I hope that it's not an offensive question .. I am just curious. |

That's a totally different question.
That topic asks why you believe in God. This topic asks why you believe in your religion. It's perfectly possible to believe in God without believing in any particular religion. To believe in God... you just have to believe in God. To believe in a religion... you have to believe in God AND you have to believe that your religious scripture is the word of God and you have to believe that your messengers were divinely ordained and you have to agree with them and aspire to follow them. |

People can believe in God, yet not follow a religion.
Most people who don't follow religions, still have faith that there's a Supreme Being out there.

thats a tad bit stupid. surely if there was a god, you would follow the scriptures sent down by god? if you believe in god, then you take on board what god has sent, neglecting it, would be like neglecting the god u believe in? its like, for example, u love peanut butter, but u deny that it has peanut in it. secularism at its finest

What if you believe that God doesn't faff around with that kind of stuff?
Oh, and how many messages from God are you going to believe? There's so many, and they're all so different.. Hence, there being so many different religions in the world, today.

I believe in my religion because it makes sense to me, it teaches me that everyone on this planet is equal no matter the colour of their skin, their sex or their religion…nobody is better than anyone, it teaches us never to look down upon anyone no matter who they are or what they believe in…that’s the type of world my religion strives for, and that’s the kind of world I want to live in…

I wonder how humans decided to live their lives?
How did laws and rules come about? Does anyone think that our species could even think about living properly on their own accord. Rules had to come from somewhere. A lot of the rules we have nowadays are based on the rules of religion. After all, who decides that taking something without asking is wrong? Stealing is wrong? Because rules forbid us to do so. The same way believing in religion without scriptures is like doing physics without maths. If someone says that they believe in god but not a religion, then they're spiritual. Thats not a belief, thats a state of mind. Anyone can be spiritual whether they believe in a god or not or whether they believe in a religion or not. Being spiritual is just a person's conscience thinking over thoughts. To believe in a supreme being without scriptures...well, that person's argument is flawed. The scripture is the proof of an almighty. Without this how can a person prove the existence of God?

^ you need some sort of rules and order otherwise it would be total chaos!!
As for the question above... surely we are here for a reson and are born into a certain religion/faith for a reason so it's only right 'normal' to follow and believe this is who you are. this is something we could argue all day! |

torah was given to the people at that time, was word of god... but it got manipulated, then came the bible, which was also the word of god, but after a while that had been changed. then the final message, the quran came and to this day it hasnt been changed or manipulated. why people dont follow the same religion, is there choice, but i firmly believe that the quran is the truth... if any person can discredit the quran being the word of god, il give up islam there and then. the challenge has been set to any man, to change even one verse of the quran, to the standard of the quran, any man who does that would banquish islam for good. hasnt been done... some muppet on here tried bringing a verse to the level of the quran, pathetic attempt or was tryna impress a few peeps on here, god knows, but his verse was, 'the cat sat on the mat' or summit stupid. Existence - Random or with Reason? | Who are we...Why are we here...Time to take a few minutes and reflect explains why the quran still hasnt been refuted...
