My media documentary is kinda on this..

How is religion seen in contemporary society? how the youngster of today see it different from the old..

2 more week of editing left on it.. and i am so posting it here

but erm..

is it.. i think we get the illusion of the fact its not.. because of the way people are now... however i believe one thing.. will relgion become a thing of the past.. like lastnights gossip and last summers fashion.. or will it live on? like it has for many years... like many things in life only time will tell < < Sorry thats a line from our doco but it has truth

i personally believe that it is growing maybe not on such a fast speed.. but it's still there and will live on

i think population increases is the main factor of religion still growing, lot of muslim households have big families.

also theres has been alot of conversions, i read somewhere, since 7/7 in britain, 500,000 people have reverted to islam, over in america since 9/11, 1.2 million have reverted.

numerous reports saying that the muslim population in britain has increased to 2.4 million muslims, the times reported it a few days ago...

Muslim population 'rising 10 times faster than rest of society' - Times Online

also islam has become the fastest growing religion, i think it is at 1.4 billion muslims, where as christianity is becoming a stale religion.

in saying all that, u can have billions of followers, its about sticking to your religion, specially living in a secular world....

it's growing but there's seems to be a lot of people converting for the wrong reasons and not for the religion itself eg. converting only to be able to marry someone

Let's forget about Conversions.
Population size is on the increase...
People aren't dying as readily.
... and there are more and more births.
So, for religions esp. those like Hinduism, Judaism and Islam, there are more families... and those families are huge.

Then with all the racial aggro caused by religions, people are switching religions more than people change shampoos.

Obviously, the more integration that takes place, the more people find out about other cultures/religions, and some choose to adopt what they've learnt.

There's so many reasons.
You can't just say "Oh, people have seen the light".

^^I agree. I think it's the other way round actually. I mean did you know there's twice as many people on the planet then there were like only 40 or 50 years ago. Scary thought.

racial aggro caused by religion? how exactly?

some people do convert for stupid reasons, but some converts they have stronger beliefs then those who are born into that religion already.

(muslim POV) since 9/11, i feel that alot of muslims and non muslims have questioned islam, coz it has been in the media alot, i feel that people are looking back to islam, there are reports saying that this generation of muslims are more clued up about there religion then there parents have ever been. overtime i think muslims will look back to islam coz secular ideas are not compatible with islam.

i think its decreasing

there's alot of people who are losing faith in religion especially as alot of the worlds strife's are due to religion.

then you have the people who put their faith into religion and start to lose it as all they see is the bad in the world or the one time they really need a god and god doesnt answer makes them lose faith.

what nonsense...

poverty in 3rd world countries is due to religion is it? or is it due to capitalism, with countries going into them lands and robbing them of there resources.

wars - not due to religion, again comes down to personal benefits. iraq was invaded coz of OIL, using WMD as a way of getting into iraq, where are the WMD? again its the government fooling the people.

corrupt governments which are openly supported by western governments, is that due to religion?

ALOT of the world strife is due to Capitalism and Foreign Policy of certain governments.
whilst the 3rd world starves, western world can spend billions upon billions on the latest technology and war machines.
whilst the poor get poorer, the rich get richer.

we could look back to the 1900s, world war 1 and 2, vietnam war, gulf war, poverty in africa, corrupt governments put in place by western backing/supported by western governemnts i.e. saddam, mubarak, Karimov, Saud family, gaddafi, musharraf, benazir, kemal, qaid e azam, the list is endlesss.

people who put faith into god, expect instant miracles, it doesnt work like that. u follow what god has sent down to the best of your ability, u are put through tests, hardship, but thats how it is, this life is temporary, short lived, u work for the after life. saying all that u 1st need to have total conviction that a god does exist, the purpose of life and where ul be going when u die...

if you look at history - the traditional christian countries have aft done the dirty on the non-christian people.

yeah if you look soley at iraq - yeah thats oil. but what about the christian aid agencies which say we'll give you aid as long as u have a copy of this bible.

the whole war on terror - its to counter act the jihad by al-qaeda.

despite people saying israel is a nation not a religious cause as muslims live inside israel too - its a jewish belief that every jew has to fight against oppressors - in this case hamas, who in thier own targets have islamic beliefs of terminating the jews.

sikhs fought off countless mughal emperors in the 1500's. - 10th guru said "When all other means have failed, It is but lawful to take to the sword." - wasnt the punjab problems of 1984 more to do with a sikh witch hunt than anything else?

look into pakistan, iraq etc and the shia/sunni bombings etc

tell me a white christian nation thats poor.

yeah religions like islam are growing due to converts etc but alot of christianity is shrinking at an alarming rate. problems with their core beliefs and the conflicts they have with modern living eg homosexuality and women priests

if there was a major sect in islam that popped up and said being gay and muslim was fine - that would have a same effect
