[Enchantress]

A beautiful one I read yesterday...


Abu Hurairah narrates that the messenger of Allah told us that the Almighty Allah said:


I am as my servant thinks I am (1). I am with him when he makes mention of me. If he makes mention of Me to himself, I make mention of him to myself; and if he makes mention of me in an assembly, I make mention of him in an assembly better than it. And if he draws near to me an arm's length, I draw near to him a fathom's length. And if he comes to me walking, I go to him at speed.

(1) Another possible rendering of the Arabic is: "I am as my servant expects me to be". The meaning is that forgiveness and acceptance of repentance by the Almighty is subject to His servant truly believing that He is forgiving and merciful. However, not to accompany such belief with right action would be to mock the Almighty.

The Prophet صلى الله عليه وسلم said: "After you there are going to be days of patience. The patience during that time is like the one clutching on to a hot coal. During those days the reward for the one who adheres to the Commands of Allah will be equivalent to the reward of fifty men who did an action like his."

On the authority of Anas رضي الله عنه, who said: I heard the Messenger of Allah صلى الله عليه وسلم say: Allah the Almighty said: "O son of Adam, so long as you call upon Me and ask of Me, I shall forgive you for what you have done, and I shall not mind. O son of Adam, were your sins to reach the clouds of the sky and were you then to ask forgiveness of Me, I would forgive you. O son of Adam, were you to come to Me with sins nearly as great as the earth and were you then to face Me, ascribing no partner to Me, I would bring you forgiveness nearly as great at it."

It was related by at-Tirmidhi (also by Ahmad ibn Hanbal). Its chain of authorities is sound.

Narrated by Abu Hurayrah رضي الله عنه that the Messenger of Allah صلى الله عليه وسلم:
Allah says (addressing the angels), "If My slave intends to do a bad deed, do not write it down unless he does it. If he does it, then write it down as it is. But if he refrains from doing it for My sake, then write it as a good deed. If he intends to do a good deed but does not do it, write it as a good deed (in his account), and if he does it, then write it for him as ten good deeds up to seven hundred times."

جاء في كتاب [الفردوس بمأثور الخطاب لأبي شجاع الهمذاني] عن أنس بن مالك رضي الله عنه أن رسول الله قال: "من أعان ظالماً على ظلمه جاء يوم القيامة وعلى جبهته مكتوب: آيسٌ من رحمة الله عز وجل".



On the authority of Anas bin Malik, the Prophet صلى الله عليه وسلم said: "Whoever helps an oppressor in his oppression, comes on the day of judgement, written on his head "despairing of the mercy of Allah."


Narrated in the book al-Firdos bima'thoor il-khitaab

Anas سبحانه وتعالى narrated that the Prophet صلى الله عليه وسلم said:
"There are three things whoever obtains them he will experience the sweetness of belief - that Allah and His Messenger are more beloved to him than anything else; that he loves a man only for the sake of Allah; and that he dislikes the thought of reverting to disbelief as much as he would dislike being cast into the Fire."

How would you define "loving a man for the sake of Allah"?

You dislike the person... but love him for the love/fear/wrath of God?
