Question Got a question...

Someone asked me whether its okay for a baby to sleep with his feet facing Ka'bah. Anyone know? Normally nobody should as its sinful but the baby was rolling around and finally gone to sleep. Parents wouldn't want to wake up him as its difficult putting a baby back to sleep!

i think it kind of eliminates the entire point of religion to even think about such a thing..you are taught that God is omnipotent and omnipresent, as such there really is no way that u can orient your feet so they aren't pointing at something holy

what i'm trying to say is that if God is everywhere all the time, what makes one place/direction more important than the other..i sorta realized my post wasn't all that legible but was too late to edit it

Never converse about religion! Everyone always has opposing ideas.

True God is everywhere but when it comes down to performing prayer its one direction. In rememberence its different. Hope that helps.

When you're out and about, do you stop to think whether your feet are facing towards Makkah?

If you want to follow something, don't make it impractical.

It's like, you mustn't raise your feet over the Qur'an.
What happens when you go upstairs?

Islamically God isn't everywhere.

I'd go with Zeros answer.

Keep the Holy Qur'an upstairs? You wouldn't intentionally go upstairs knowing the Qur'an is downstairs or someone is carrying one downstairs. That'd be wrong.

Out and about? Its when you got your legs stretched out i.e. sitting or lying down facing Makkah thats sinful, got nothing to do with going out.

Yea, when you're out, and have no idea what direction the Qiblah is... How do you know whether your feet are pointing away??

..and you hit the nail on the head.
Was the baby intentionally pointing its feet towards the Qiblah?

If I happened to fart, and the wind was blowing in the direction of the Qiblah, does that mean I'll be forever doomed to the eternal hellfire?

God's not an arse.
Don't make him out to be one.

the ka'aba is there as a direction to face for namaz... lets not blow it out of proportion.

as for the quran, it needs to be kept away from the ground, kept at a reasonable height. its common sense really.

The religion is simple.

Don't over complicate it with your crap.... For it's neither beneficial for you to too moderate and too extreme...

Place the baby to sleep with feet facing away from the Kaaba. Then if the baby through its own movements has it's feet facing the Kaaba in slumber, then I don't see anything wrong with that. Babies are innocent and will not be judged for anything that they do... And it is not for you to watch over the baby while it sleeps coz that's extreme... When the baby comes into knowledge it will be judged like everyone else....

"Praise be to Allaah. Shaykh ‘Abd-Allaah ibn Humayd (may Allaah have mercy on him) was asked about pointing one’s feet in the direction of the qiblah. He replied:
There is nothing to say that this is not allowed, but some of the scholars regarded it as makrooh (disliked) to stretch the feet out towards the Ka’bah if one is close to it; they regarded this as makrooh but not emphatically so. But if there is a mosque somewhere else and there is a Muslim there who points his feet towards the qiblah, there is no harm in that and he is not doing anything forbidden in sha Allaah, as the scholars stated. And Allaah knows best.
See Fataawa al-Shaykh Ibn Humayd, p. 144
Shaykh Ibn ‘Uthaymeen was asked about pointing the feet towards the qiblah whilst sleeping. He said:
There is no blame on a person if he sleeps and his feet are pointing towards the qiblah.
Fataawa al-Shaykh Ibn ‘Uthaymeen, 2/976."
