A group of MPs has accused the government of watering down 'pay as you throw' charges. Should we pay for our rubbish?

MPs have criticised the government's scheme for not being widespread enough to reduce landfill waste and meet EU targets.

They say that ministers should give councils powers to introduce their own systems.

Do you think we should pay for our rubbish? Should there be financial rewards for households who recycle? Should the government push through 'pay as you throw' schemes to meet EU targets? What do you think the proposals mean for landfill problems?

Its an interesting debate. Different people waste different amounts and personally i think its hard to calculate.

Some may genuinely cos of there job or something waste more and would it be fair to tax them too?

We already pay for our rubbish collection with council tax.

No but this is gonna be a separate amount you're gonna have to pay. They will weight how much you've got and charge you accordingly. Even if you don't have any rubbish, they will still charge you a stndard fee.

If they start doing that jack shit, I'm gonna go to a car scrappy and get a big metallic drum and burn all the household waste..... Plastic bottles the lott.... Or fly tip it on the road. That'll either pollute the atmosphere or mean the councill will have to clean it up with no-one to blame for the tipping.

The government is fucking stupid. No you don't need more money you fucking dickheads, use what you have more efficiently... Every time someone spends a pound in the UK the goverment takes a cut from it and you're telling me they still need more? You have to be fucking kidding me.. The government are just fucking theives.

I'll tell you what, stop importing Polish working adults into the country so they can 'contribute to the UK economy'.... If they contribute to the economy, they also contribute drastically on the use of resources and that includes landfill sites and rubbish generation. Use some of that which they contribute and use it to make a new hole to throw their waste in. Coz it's not benefitting me that they are here, my tax is still the same? Hospital waiting lists are longer and you meet more ruder basterds on your daily activities who suddenly believe we owe them something.....

Motherfuck the government, cheating, robbing arse fools.... And motherfuck Ken Livingstone while you at it....
