    Default Distinguished Gentlemen Only

This one is only for dudes with a sufficient sense of distinguished steelo.

I'm going to a wedding, I was thinking to try something other than the usual Tie/Suit combo with a Cravat. No not a groom's cravat.

    Something like:

    Ok, you get the picture...

Would you dudes do somet like this? Girlies, what would you think if someone was wearing this?

I wanna know coz these things are expensive to start with like £60 in some cases as it's pure silk.....

    Anyway.... Drop some opinions...

Erm, I wouldn't wear it at an asian wedding, though if I was attending a european wedding I would wear it. It's just like you can't really wear a bow tie at an asian wedding or dinner. Not saying that its law, but they'd mistake you for a waiter with a bow.

I don't think it's pretty formal for a wedding though? If you want to be a bit different, wear a square tie perhaps?

I don't understand, you mean it looks too informal for a Asian wedding?

Yeah, a tad bit informal. But thats my opinion.
I could see people wearing cravats for like a dinner party or a reunion or high-society event, but not at a wedding.
That doesn't mean they're uncool though, I think they're pretty elite. I've only worn normal neck-ties and bow ties before, but never a cravat. If you do end up wearing it, please tell me if you got any power from it lol.

LOL - yeah it's kinda unknown territory on the Asian wedding scene.... I'm curious - I'm weighing heavily to have a go wearing it you know.. I know which I want, but let me see what else people say haha.. Thanks for your input as always, your opinion goes in definitely.

As Zero said it's a bit informal and kinda outta place in an asian wedding, i've never worn it but if you wear it and can rock it well then go for it, im sure you will turn a few heads...

Personally i wouldn't wear it just coz i couldn't seee myself with that on, what colour you plan on getting and what colours you wearing it with, as the outfit gotta look sharpish or you will end up looking like some consierge...

OMG De Ja Vu, No! it's INCEPTION!!!

OK, I am not from Asian world but as woman would find such garment inappropriate to any type of wedding (or any other place if I will be totally honest). And trust me any man wearing that will be by me classified as "attention seeking freak" Sorry, I do not intend to step on your toes or in any way to be offensive. I get your point about looking lush, elite, cool bla bla bla but its just so "feminine" look (basicaly its a man wearing printed silk "scarf"). Girls like masculinity (or at least me).

Budden Face, I'd love for you to wear it.
...but I don't think you're 'swag' enough to pull it off.

Don't go by what's the norm at Asian Weddings, 'cause then you might as well just wear any old thing and put a suit jacket on top.

    Cravats are incredibly hot.
...as are braces and arm garters.

If you do go for it, some pictures would be nice?

I personally think it would look really nice. People will inevitably stare (you know what asians are like) but that's just the old green eyed monster coming out.

The style of a gentlemen ... very dappa indeed.

    I just said dappa...

Points taken... Trust me - if rocked correct it will look good. The opinions that are against are the apprehensions that prevent anyone from doing it in the first place. The key is to not be too informal or look like a old man. The only thing that is really on my mind is that you have to be of a certain age/maturity to pull it off. Probably mid to late thirties I'd say at the very least. Apart from that - I bet those have strong comments wear Nike Air Shox.
