So whenever we talk about Islam or Muhammad on these forums, should we mention this debate? Should we say… “Hang on, there is a debate over whether Muhammad ever existed at all”?

I can start a debate too. I can claim that Dwight Yorke is actually a white Norwegian who was born on the outskirts of Oslo, and he emigrated to Trinidad at a very young age, and his dark skin complexion is due to spending too much time in the sun plus a bit too much fake tan.

Only gullible and feeble minded people will give these sorts of “debates” any attention.

Intelligent people will only look at the evidence and then come to a conclusion. Intelligent people don’t listen to any Tom Dick and Harry who claims this that and the other on random internet “links”.

The only evidence we have of Aisha’s marriage is from the collections of ahadith, which I have posted. As you can see, the evidence of Aishas age is overwhelming and incontrovertible.

It’s funny how you warn me about picking Islamic knowledge from the dangerous internet… yet it was you who posted a link to a dodgy website.

I got my evidence directly from the hadith. I didn’t get it from any dodgy websites.

It begs the question… why did you post it at all then? As I mentioned earlier, surely you must’ve posted it because you thought it had some credibility?

How much do you agree with it? 80%? 70%? 50%? 20%?

There are many scholars who would agree that denying the sunnah of the prophet is kufr.
You do realise I actually believe that Ayesha's age when married was indeed 6?

And because I looked and considered that link, I'm feeble minded, not intelligent and even possibly a kufr. LOL okay then.

Zanzeer do you have any opinions in regards to my previous Post in relation to the Mary n Joseph marraige? Not having a dig. Just want your opinion in regards to this.

And also what is your opinions in regards to the Prophets marraige with Aisha given the fact it was over 1400 years ago.

Lastly do you think Marys marraigne with Joseph is a justified argument that these kind of things happened so far back in history? And was deemed to be acceptable?

Any Muslim who tries to say that Aisha was any other age (besides 6 and 9) should be promptly ignored.

I’m merely stating the facts. I haven’t stated my opinion on the marriage (ie whether I think it was right or wrong).
And do tell me,where in all of ths thread has ANY of us argued or denied the age?

Didn't the Temple elders choose Jospeh for Mary?..
Neither of them had a say in it?
    I still find it odd...

Isn't the difference, though, that Joseph was forced into it, whereas the prophet *wanted* it.

Apparently the prophet did not *WANT* Aisha. She appeared to him in a dream sent by god. It was God's will that he then went on to marry her.

"He said, 'I saw you in dreams three times. The angel brought you to me and you were clad in white silk. He (the angel) said that it was your consort and he (angel) showed me by opening your face. You are just like that..." Sahih Muslim, Vol.2, p. 285.

Rab, read everything I wrote. Even if everything was 'arranged' as you put, doesn't that show a form of acceptance of young aged girls marrying an older man in that period of time? If that's the case, why should the prophet be made to look bad?

From what I know it was a common practice over 1400 years ago, wheather you was Muslin or none Muslim. Girl's got married off early when the were 'ready'. We can not judge who 'we' think was ready to get married sitting behing a computer screen in the 22nd ceuntury. Remember Life Expectancy was very low around that period of time and often men who were able to provide and older got selected for daughters, so they can look after them.

I am not going to sit around and say I think it is okay to marry a 9 year old child. But I will accept that 1400 years was very different to now. If the Joseph and Mary got 'arranged' to marry with that kind of gap in age, it proves at that particular time it was a common practive , although that was even before Mohammed pbuh time.

Let me give Zanzeer an example since he compared the world being flat and what not examples. When Guru Nanak stoped the 'rock' falling on the people with his open hand. Do you think that would happened now? Do people still pocess these 'miracles' now? Quite clearly it's a different time. or any of the 'high authority from the acient time' people in this day n age caimed they could miracles, they would quite frankly be laughed off. And that gos to any other religions too. We live in a complete different age now. Anyways please answer my questions in the above post. Thanks.

So they did! Ta it's just that in Sahih Bukhari's ahadith, it says the prophet died from eating poisoned sheep meat. It says a Jewish woman gave him poisoned meat and he fell ill and then died

Have any other prophets died in that way? It's weird how the death of beloved prophets (all of them) is something rarely discussed.

Really? Are you sure he fell ill from the meat...? I never heard that...

I heard he tasted the meat...and spat it out because he knew something was wrong with it and ordered his companions not to eat it either. One companion died because the morsel slipped down...and he deemed it unappropriate to spit out the meet in front of the prophet (pbuh)....

I've never heard that one before. I have heard a story of a Jewish woman giving him dodgy meat though, but I think it was meat she did black magic on or something?

There was a dinner...in which the woman invited the prophet and some of his companions to. She poisoned the meat. She put more poison in the part of the animal that the prophet preferred.

I don't think she did any black magic...
