Music in Islam..

Ive heard that as well..its silly who are we to say who is a muslim and whos not..psht silly people. sufi..sunni or what not..We should focus on becoming proper muslims ourselves first.

Not really, a lot of the muslim elders thought that too as well, hence there is no progress in the Islamic World today. Not much anyway. People need to join together/bond and unanimously say what is wrong and what is right in the religion for there to be any change whatsoever.

Theres been too much of "Let me live my religion my way and you do it your way". Especially amongst asians. Although a lot of Muslim youth these days are getting closer together and overcoming the clash between religion and the west. Thats how it should be.

Erm... as far as i know it is haraam... unless you beat the duff (which only a woman is allowed to do) and only on certain occasions such as on Eid.

It was narrated from ‘Aa’ishah that Abu Bakr (may Allaah be pleased with him) entered upon her and there were two girls with her during the days of Mina beating the daff, and the Prophet (peace and blessings of Allaah be upon him) was covering himself with his garment. Abu Bakr rebuked them, and the Prophet (peace and blessings of Allaah be upon him) uncovered his face and said, “Leave them alone, O Abu Bakr, for these are the days of Eid.” That was during the days of Mina. Narrated by al-Bukhaari, 944; Muslim, 892



Also, with regards to Nusrat Fateh Ali Khan... they used musical instruments and also some of the lyrics where dangerously close to shirk (making partners with God) which is the biggest sin one could commit. Like he would elevate the Prophet and his companions to such a status that it would be deemed Shirk. Perhaps not major shirk but minor shirk... which in itself is quite a big deal.

Anywho... Sufi's are another sect of islam that some would say are out of the fold of islam. But not all Sufi's are extreme in their veiws of their teachers/ancestors etc etc... however some really are which leads to Shirk. Even some of the teachers themselves tell stories of their so called magnificence... and i mean... if your teacher's, teacher's, teacher etc etc has this kind of beliefs than the core of what your following is going to influence other beliefs, that you may have, within the religion.

what makes me LOL is when these self promoting Islamic Scholars who are promoting and spreading their industry come on TV/you tube saying ALL music is forbidden. The TV's and videos we see them on are allowed but music aint? LMAO.. what's more powerful what you hear or what you see visually ? eg if you watch someone being murdered it will have much of an effect on you then if you simply hear it.

Islam says images are forbidden yet these Islamicomical mercenaries suddenly forget that when they are pursuing the good cause of filling up their pockets with TV appearances and endless exposure. Basically what they really mean is any form of audio/multimedia which draws attention to them and gives them publicity is permitted.
