    Question Distance Learning/Home Learning

Do you think its wise to take on an online course and learn from home, when you're restricted to actually attend college/uni due to personal reasons?

    Anyone been there, done that?

As long as you don't do your course from a micky mouse institution then it's all good. One of my mates almost got duped into doing a course which would supposedly qualify him as an electrician (except it didn't really qualify him as an electrician).

If you have the dedication and motivation to combine work and study, then it's the ideal way to get a qualification and work experience at the same time.

I did it for a bit. I went through ICS and it does have its pros and cons like with anything u do.

The good thing is that once you've paid your fee they send you all the materials you need, so reading material and anything else you need and then you have all the time you need to complete each module.

The only reason I stopped doing the home course is because you dont have any discipline from anyone, so it was up to me when I studied and when I stopped and when you dont have deadlines sometimes I wasnt bothered.

Oh, and if you needed to talk to your tutor about work you could only email which was a pain in the ass because I needed to talk.

Then, when you finished the modules and had to submit your coursework - that was fine as you could do it online but doing the exams you had to travel to your closest assessment centre...and me living in west london my closest centre was east london which is strange.

    Anyways, thats all.
