    Question Restoring a laptop

Got a laptop jus before xmas and want to wipe my old laptop clean for my dad.

It orginally had vista on it....then I upgraded it to windows 7.

    Its a HP....do I just create/use the recovery CD/DVD I done or what?

    Ritz....where are you?

Yeah just bang in the windows 7 dvd u have and then boot it up from the dvd.

once booted just follow the onscreen instructions.

make sure that when you get to the installation stage, you choose the advanced settings and format the hard drive. if you don't then win7 keeps a copy of the old system and installs the new copy over it.

so once the new copy is installed, if u browse to my computer u can see the old version called windows.old or something like that.

i'm sure you don't want your dad knowing u had porno on your pc lol.

the win 7 cd is in there now and it's jus a blank screen with the white line flashing in the top corner

there's no white line to say it loading

it's like an old cursor a small white dash or underscore

    ok.

forcefully shut down the laptop by holding down the power button then start it back up again.

but when the laptop is starting up keep pressing the f12 key until u hear a beeping noise or see a boot option screen.

when u see the screen select the cd drive.

if all goes well when u select the cd u shud see a msg saying "press any key to boot from cd/dvd"

then just follow the on screen instructions.
