    Default Desi Asian Place Gear

Hi i would like to know what the interest is like out there about Modern day Desi clothes. This thread is solely for research purposes, just wanting to know what you think, your views and any criticisms that you may have.

There are many Desi clothes out there, but what do you guys think about Modern day Desi clothes? I’m talking about Jeans, shirts etc, special design and also something that has a desi brand to go along with it, something that signifies that you are wearing desi branded/themed clothes?

It would be in the form of writing, on the actual material itself that signifies your wearing desi material, or it could be the use of patterns or even colour etc.

So the question is, if The Asian Place has its own brand, or even another Desi brand would there be any interest within the UK Desi community do you think? I understand that there are many factors to consider but if you just only think about the Desi brand itself? Knowing its Desi, something you belong to yourself? Would you have interest in buying it? Think about it.

Ask yourself this to help you. E.g. would you buy an identical/similar pair of jeans to Levis that was Desi branded?

    Thanks for reading,

Thats the thing, we shouldnt worry about quality now. All im after is, would there be any interest in the product knowing its Desi branded? Also knowing that this product will signify "Desi" If somebody saw you wear it?

Personally, I don't think it would take off. Despite how much people think labels don't matter, they do.

Image is everything. That's coming from a guy who isn't a label freak although I do sometimes wear Armani etc.

I doubt 16-25 year olds would wear an item of clothing which wasn't branded by a big name. The only way in which youths would wear unbranded high street clothing is when there are no large labels or anything to identify the brand i.e. plain clothing.

ps. Primark sells reasonable quality clothing at dirt cheap prices which is why they're a huge successful company.

Do you think they would be as successful as they are if they put the words 'P R I M A R K' in big letters across their clothing? I doubt it very much.

This backs up my point regarding the whole 'brand issue' and my opinion regarding a 'desi brand' also.
