Explain the role of scripts and other programming languages in terms of web interactivity and differentiate between Client-Side and Server-Side Scripts.

Consider Active Server Pages, JavaScript, DHTML, WML, XML etc.

Iv got the basic information like what all of them and that and listed the advanatges/disadvantages......

dont know what to write about differentiate......

Client Side:
Client-side scripting offers an easy way to provide additional functionality and flexibility to any kind of project. Since HTML is very limited, it's main purpose is to display and format content. It allows little or no interaction with the visitors of a site.
Scripting technologies like JavaScript, JScript, VBScript and others are used on many sites to add extra functionality to a web site. Ranging from simple mouse over image effects, animation, form field validation to complex dynamic menu systems, these scripts enhance the functionality and user experience.

Server Side:
This is never visible to end users. It is mainly used to website managment, where the site's content is stored in a database, and presented to the user on request.
There are various technologies or languages such as PHP, ASP, JSP, Perl and many others which are required in almost any kind of website.

So thats the main points of Client Side and Server Side

Now as for the difference.
The main difference between Client Side and Server Side is the way they both are executed. Client side scripts are always downloaded by the browser the client uses to surf webpages. Everything is done in the browser itself, like after downloading it interprets it first and then executes it. But again all this also depends on various factors such as memory, CPU speed , and if the website is highly graphical or animated also depends on the the Video and Graphics cards in a particular system.
Server side as the name suggests basically runs on the server, and it depends on the servers CPU speed and memory. Other difference of server side scripting is that the script that you run has to be supported by a server. Like ASP.net hosting sites are hard to find. So if u write your website in ASP.net but your hosting website for example say godaddy does not support ASP.net then u are basically doomed cos u cant upload it on the server.
Now since client side scripting relies on the user visiting your website and the type of browser it uses u as a creator need not worry about the server speed and memory and stuff. But again this can increase the cost of a project time and money wise, since u as a creator have to take into account the various browsers available in todays market.
