I see him as THE greatest because he wasn't just one of the greatest boxers of all time. He had charisma, humour and when he refused to go to Vietnam he became a great role model outside the ring as well. Obviously he had bad things about him, one being he joined the racist Nation of Islam but he turned to mainstream Islam later so thats all cool.

muhammad ali definitely by far. no1 is newhere near iconic as he is cos even non boxing fans admire him for what he did outside of boxing. hands down muhammad ali but there have been others who come close to him in jus sporting terms, babe ruth in baseball, michael jordon is basketball, pele and maradona in football and bradman in cricket, but ali jus for his contribution 2society
