Network Sharing : Wireless Networks

I have wireless internet. so multiple computers can connect to my network.

Im on my laptop upstairs.

and theres some one over our house downstairs.
whos also brought their laptop along, and it says on my computer that they are also connected to my internet.



what Im kind of worried about is. They a sneaky kind of person (we aint really best of friends )
and just wondering, can they access the stuff on my computer? (eg. files pictures)
or the sites I go on?....
Im scared they may even be reading what im typing now...

It says (circled in reds) Turn on network discovery, and turn off network discovery.
It let me turn it on. but wont let me turn it off the turn off bit in grey and wont let me click on it

Im waffling on now. but Q (or those who can help)

If neither of the boxes are clicked on. Can I safely assume that my files and stuffs are safe?

ur files should be safe. u have to choose to share particular folders and im sure you havent done that.

to share folders you have right click on folders and either click on "sharing and security" or properties then the sharing tab.

i dunno how to check a list of any currently shared folders tho. maybe someone else knows.


do you wanna stop them using ur wireless connection too?

Aww thanks finally some one who has the answer

Thats what I kind of thought. But I had to be completely sure....

They kind of a computer freak so they probaly would have clocked on If I disabled the internet connection

Nope.

They staying over for a few days. and not a very nice person. prone to blackmailing, hurting people to get a buzz, nosy ect ect
but they are "family" so I cant really cut them offs
