Mobile Phone Dilemma - The Asian Place - Desi Forum

Ok, the time has come where my contract expires (on the 29th of Jan). My dilemma is pretty simple! I need a new phone and im stuck between three choices!

Choice 1: Sony Ericsson Xperia 1

Choice 2: Apple IPhone

Choice 3: T-Mobile G1

So, for all you tech heads and mobile phone wizz kids! Some advice would be most appreciated!

I've had a look on phone forums and review sites, majority favor the Xperia and G1.

The price isn't really a problem as i'll be buying the phone on contract. ATM im on t-mobile and if i upgrade i can get the G1 for free and continue paying my current line rental, The Xperia is only available on Orange and O2, so that will mean switching networks and also the phone is only available for free on contracts above £75/month, which i don't fancy paying for 18 months.

Based on looks? Xperia would get my pick. The apple iphone doesnt look like its from apple and the other one is just ugly.

on a £50/month contract the Xperia will cost £280, and there is no way i would pay that much for a phone!

Know of any websites apart from the network sites and carphone warehouse that do good deals?

Hmm...I dunno of any other sites...I heard of the link though..I got my first phone from there...you could check it out.

Did you know the T-Mobile G1 is actually a Google Mobile Phone?

When the G1 first came out i so badly wanted it. Its built for internet browsing its much more of an Internet phone than any of the other ones. It might not look as good as the others.. however i believe it meets all your e-needs.

Im not on contract so its out of my league. However ive never been interested in phones.. its either my dads upgrade for me or a phone from ebay thats it. When the G1 came out i so wanted it.. the iphone didnt have the same effect on me as the G1 did.

I would highly recommend the G1 hands down.

ok seen how they all work and if your already on T-mobile dont change, becuase firstly, orange is very expensive... amd ypou'll end up paying shit loads for a phone...

and secondly you wont get anythig near to what your paying plus a top of the range handset tog o with... i've recommended and also played with the G1 alot in the T-mobile shop near to where my Orange store is, and hands down the G1 wins compared to teh other two handsets, its fast, you get unlimited browsing all you need is a G-mail account which wont be a problem im sure and your off... PLUS ITS FREE FOR YOU...

the X1 is slow because we have orange software on it even though its supposedly a great phone the first batch will always have glitches withthem and unless you have insrance your screwed pretty bad...

my professional opiion is get the G1, the browser on it im amazing and the phone works perfectly without any complications...

You can get the xperia for free from vodafone for 40-45 a month. That would be my vote most definetly.

what about getting the xperia on o2? will that still work slowly?

I have mobile phone insurance with my credit card, so if anything does happen they will give me a replacement or repair the phone, so thats not really a problem.

At the moment, im on the flext 35 contract on T-mobile, i pay just over £40/month as i have the web 'n' walk bolt on.

Also another contender to add to the list

the HTC Pro...

Vodafone - £40, 900 minutes, unlimited texts, free phone.
As far as i am aware, if you pay 45 a month, you get unlimted internet too.

i wouldn't recommend the G1. Heard alot of bad news about it.
