I'm looking to buy a tiddler NetBook thingy by the end of Summer (well, I want one now, but I should really manage my CashFlow).
So, what are the best things out, that are reasonably priced? I don't want a tiny thing, that I can't type on, and I want to be able to plug in a mouse. Any suggestions, please?

I was going through this. I asked EG for some advice, and he suggested the Asus EEPC (I think its called) or a Samsung one. I ordered the samsung one, but was unhappy with a few features so I sent it back; it didn't suit my needs.
When you say mini-laptop, do you mean a notebook with a small screen or a netbook? Because, I wanted something very small and portable, with some good features here and there so I settled for a Dell Latitude E6400 in the end with its 14.1" screen. Its relatively small and it had some really good reviews: Dell Latitude E6400 14.1in Business Notebook Review - Notebook Reviews - TrustedReviews But if you wanted a Netbook, then I'd defo recommend the Samsung NC10 Samsung NC10 - 10.2in Netbook Review - Notebook Reviews - TrustedReviews The problem with netbooks is that they run Windows XP (due to the specifications of the machine). The battery life of netbooks last for well over 4-5 hours. But theres no CD/DVD drive. And if you want to play games, youd probly get away with solitaire and minesweeper or some java games on the net. This machine has 1Gigabyte of RAM with it, but install another stick of ram to make it 2Gig, you will DEFO see an improvement, especially with WinXP. You can also install Vista on it as well with the 2Gig setup, and that works a breeze too, my mate at uni is proof of this fact. However if you want to wait awhile, I think the newer Samsung NC20 is out now but theres not many reviews of this machine yet, so I don't know... Theres also the MSI Wind: MSI Wind - Windows XP Edition Review - Notebook Reviews - TrustedReviews Thats pretty decent as well! But theres some issues with the battery life, so check if you've got the 6cell rather than the 4cell battery when you do buy it. Here are a few others you might want to consider: Asus Eee PC 900 Review - Notebook Reviews - TrustedReviews Asus Eee PC 1000H - Windows XP Edition Review - Notebook Reviews - TrustedReviews My brother-in-law's cousin bought an EEPC but he said that some peopel will hate the tiny screen size, and if you try to max it out, the screen does become a little pixelated. Heres a link for a useful reference when looking for a netbook: The Ultimate Netbook Buyer's Guide Review - Notebook Reviews - TrustedReviews I use this site quite a lot. Im weary of many review sites, but this one gives such good reviews and I've gone to buy a camera and a notebook from here by the authors recommendation and I've never found anything inaccurate about what they've said.

Aww, Cipher, my knight in shining armour.
I'll have a look at those sites. I'm not really sure, yet, of what I want... I want something small enough to not be a hassle to carry around. However, I can't deal with tiny keyboards. Spec wise, I have no idea. I'm not tech literate, so I'm totally open to anything you say.

Okay, so it really depends on what you want to use your laptop for. If you just want to browse the net and stay connected with messenger stuff, then a netbook is ideal.
You'll have a tiny keyboard and a tiny mousepad and no cd/dvd bay, but you'll make up for it with an excellent battery life and lots of connectivity, Wi-Fi, infra red, bluetooth, card readers etc. But if you can't deal with it, you should really go for a notebook. I think the smallest screen you can get in the "notebook" range is 13"-14.1". Anything below that classifies as a netbook I assume. Notebooks have more power to perform more tasks, but the drawback is that its quite heavier. And if you want to opt for a very thin one, then you maybe paying from £700+ (first hand). Um specwise, you shouldn't get MS Vista as an operating system if the laptop says its only got "1gigabyte RAM memory" because then your laptop will be quite slow in running. You need at least 2 gig for vista to run...thats the MINIMUM. 1gig is okay for MS XP operating system. When looking for hard drives, try to find one that has the most RPM. I think 7200rpm is the fastest you can get these days? Not too sure. The average is 5400. Thats not too bad. In terms of hard disk capacity, you shouldn't get anything under 80 gigabytes, tho these days, I doubt you'd find anything thats less than that anyway. From what you said about you not being able to deal with tiny keyboards, a netbook may not be a good idea, but they are very easy to carry around, and everyone whos had a netbook says that after a while, they get used to the screen/keyboard size. Right, I'm going to get munch now. I was quite hungry so I apologise if the post was blabbing.

Dude...
I'm not clever. I don't understand RPM whatsits. but thank you. I think I may have to have a play around at shops, or something (Do they allow that?)... Because, if I can get away with not getting a NetBook, I think I'd be better off.

You don't have to understand RPM to buy a good laptop... When ya read the specs make sure it says that number (or above) and you should be okay!
Yeh, they will allow it. Depending on the store. Thats the best way. Plus you'll also get to see how it looks like in real, rather than a fake foto lol.

I don't really care how things look like...
Hello, I'm rocking a Nokia 2310! It's more about how I can use shit, and whether it's practical for me. There's no point in buying a really high tech laptop if it's too big for me to take on the bus and shit.

I went and bought a Dell Inspiron 15 for my little sister.
I think it's quite big. It's ok for her, 'cause she's not going to take it out of the house. ...but I didn't see any good laptops that were small enough to carry around. I don't know what to do.
