Windows 7 RC is out for free evaluation. It will be available for just over a year, so plenty of time to test it out.

For those who don't know what that means, RC means 'Release Candidate' essentially a version barring a few extra tweaks they'll be selling off the shelf. A 'Beta' version is a version which is put out in a testing/prototyping phase. Which has already been done. So this should be a pretty stable OS.

not so sure i want to try it out, just yet, i think il wait a looooong while, iv had vista for a while, and i absolutely hate it. its tooo slow..some of the features are nice.. but i prefer xp

I don't wanna sell it to you like I'm on Billion Gate's dick.. But apparently this is supposed to be a lot faster and much better XP support: meaning you can run your XP programs on it...

I dunno if thats true or not.. Will see... I'm downloading the OS, in case I get the urge to put it in like Rab C the next time I slap on Windows.....

Windows 7 is everything that Vista should have been.

They got rid of all of the shitty stuff like the side bar. It is faster than XP. EG you're right you can use XP programs and games on it, but only under a virtual environment. It won't run directly off the 7 OS.

This has been around for quite some time and I have seen some good things about it, but not had enough confidence to actually install it just in case it flops somewhere down the line.

But I might give this ago when I get the 2nd HDD which I still need to collect from you ritz.

Tell me more about this virtual environment. How does this work? Is it a 3rd party program?

i installed this yesterday, everything seems to be working fine so far, and is pretty good to.
