Dell aren't shit, it really depends on the model you get vash. A LOT of Dell's that are standalone are shit, if you customize it then you obviously pay much more so its better getting a different laptop. My one is elite and got some of the best reviews out there...hasn't given me any problems since

We use Dell in our college, and trust me they are the shittest brand out there. They use the most crapest components out there available.

I recently ordered 100k worth of Dell XPS rigs for our E-Gaming students, and what would you know, straight out of the box 4 were dead.

Last year when we had our refresh, we replaced over 1200 machines, over 300 were DOA. From the rest, we ended up changing the hard drives on about 10% of them in the 1st week.

Put it this way. When our college had the GX280 models, they extended the warranty on them by an extra 3 years for free, because the WHOLE GX280 lineup had a manufacturing flaw where the transistors kept blowing, and thus making the CPU fans sound like chinooks!

You're just one of the lucky ones. I mean they charge a premium for their XPS rigs yeah, around £1,200 plus. On those systems you know what make of motherboards they use?

They use Foxconn mobos, Hyundai RAM, Foxconn CPU coolers, and a Dell branded PSU.

Plus have you noticed how on XPS rigs the motherboard is always on the wrong way round? Its cos its another manufacturing flaw. They had to put the mobos on upside down so the hot air rises easily and without any obstruction, cos they found out that when put on normally, the components overheated and died.

Trust me I go to the Dell lab on a frequent basis, and their engineers always tell me that always run into problems.

Once when a Dell engineer came to replace a mobo on one of our machines, he actually had to ask me how to take the mobo off cos he didn't know how to. What does that tell you about Dell.

These are Dell trained staff as well.

Well thanks you've just jynxed my notebook lol.

I hope I don't run into any problems; this laptop has a years worth of software projects on it. I wouldn't get a Dell PC though...because for obv reasons.

Dunno what will happen to mine in the long run, I spent quite a tidy packet on it as well. I'm just really speaking from experience with one notebook, the E6400 series; it supposed to be solidly made internally and externally, hence I bought it.
