Default Apple Macbook...?

I was thinking to get a Apple MacBook Pro or MacBook Air.

Just wanted to know if any of you use Mac or have used Mac and what are your views.

I haven't used it much and wanted to know how good and easy to use they are....

Thanks in advance

If you haven't used a mac then don't cuz it will take time to get use to and you'll get pissed off...

I LOVE MACS but thats cuz i'm a media student and its what we use and stuff..
It prob will be my next laptop but only cuz it suits what i'm going to do.
Macs are pro for anything creative..

You don't really need a Mac for any everyday computing. People who use Macs to the fullest potential will be those that are into graphic design and video editing; for example if you're doing video rendering and you'd need a solid processor with high cache to be able to do it without wasting time.

Of course that doesn't mean you can't use it. I think approximately 80% of people who have macs don't even utilise it the way its supposed to; hence it's like a fashion accessory; you know, the "I'm different" look. Same with the iPod. Overpriced as well. You can get a Windows machine that can probably do the same computing for half the price if you look hard enough.

Yes they are a little pricey but i like the look of them and quite a lot of the features they have. I either wants the Mac or Sony Vaio, both are similiar in prices. well the ones i have seen anyway...

but yeah i do agree that they are good for media/graphics etc....

I only use mac.. for everything, at home and at work.. But I wouldn't go for the Air, No cd rom/dvd drive, only 1 USB port, and you cant upgrade..

Go for the macbook or the macbook pro which i have.

If you want a cheaper alternative then here are some laptops you should look into

DELL ADAMO LAPTOP

super slick and super stylish and very very sexy! good performance too!

Dell Studio XPS 13 Laptop Details

Very nice and workable laptop! without losing the look of a nice laptop

8 best laptops for £599 or less | What Laptop

have a read of the above..

Dell are useless. Cheap and shit. Its exactly what you pay for.

Macs are more expensive yes, but since you're a student, you get a student discount.

Students get 15% I think it was.

I get 25% cos I'm college staff, muahahahahahahahahahahahahahahah!!!!!!!!!!!

That's bollox.

These days Macs are designed to be more user friendly than they ever were.

I can gurantee you that if I was to give one of my 1st year Media students a Mac, they would get on with it and would have no problems on how to use a Mac.

Macs these days are pretty much like PC's anyways.

You still have 2 mouse buttons, right and left click, plus the Apple home button is pretty much like the Windows home key.

I don't think so, we get the 25% discount because we have a massive contract with Apple. They give us brand new Macs every year. But we are only allowed to use our 25% discount once a year, and I've already used mine .

If you really want one, check out Gumtree, because of the Recession there are some on there going for peanuts.

Example:

MacBook Pro 15&quot 2.33ghz, 3gb Ram, Apple Care until 2010 Shoreditch Macs imacs ibooks for sale London

Granted that's the old model, but one like that which has warranty on it till 2010 and those specs will still set you back over a grand if bought from Apple or a reseller. This guy wants £850 for it.

Plus if you get the Mac direct from Apple on the student scheme, they give you an interest free loan if I remember correctly. Its best to call them up and find out.

Or ask your Uni, they should have some sort of scheme set up for buying new IT equipment if related to the course itself. They usually give you a grant, if not a full grant then partial at the very least.

We give our media students 60% towards new Macs.
