Someone explain to me uni finance stuff, i dont get it!!

Right.

For your Tuition Fees, you'll need a Tuition Fee Loan (if you ain't paying them yourself). This is a loan anyone can get regardless of their parents income and it will cover the cost of your course fees. (Uni's can charge upto a max of £3070).

The Maintenance Loan is for general living costs like rent, books, food etc. You can get 75% of the full loan regardless of your parents income (which is known as non-income assessed )

If you wanted the extra 25% of the Maintenance Loan, it would go on your household income (we don't take students earned income into account but we do take their unearned income into account)

The above are loans which you would have to pay back with interest (linked with inflation) at the end of your course and when you start earning over £15k.

There is also a Maintenance Grant available which is a maximum of £2765. This is also income assessed but you don't have to pay this one back.

The other support available is DSA (Diasbled Student Allowance, Parents Learning Allowance, Childcare Grant, Adults Depandants Grant and Travel Grant) but not everyone can get those.

Well it's a good job I'm here then!

The deadline for new students was actually the 29th of June so I'd download a form ASAP, fill it out and send it off to your LEA with all your evidence!

no, ive actually still got year, ive just started my A Levels! lol...our skul makes us apply and everythin realy early. and i wanna knw about the finance stuff cuz no1 else in my family knws bout it. i need 2 knw wat im gettin myself in4. thansk 4 all the info!
