University - Education or Experience? - The Asian Place - Desi Forum

At the moment, we are going around to schools to give presentations about loans and ways to get help with finance whilst at Uni.

My mate came back from a talk today and she said a girl from one of the schools said she wanted to go to Uni for the experience.

I was thinking "Why the hell would she want to waste money going to Uni if it wasn't for educational purposes?" Yes she said for the experience but surely you wouldn't go to Uni and waste money and get into over £20k worth of debt just for an "experience" or would you?

Those of you who are going to Uni, are you going for educational purposes or just for experience?

And to those of you who want to go to Uni, would you be going for educational purposes or just for experience?

Same goes to those who have been to Uni

im going to uni for the education side of it!

i understand why ppl go for the experience, but thats not me

Don't you think it would be a waste if they just went for the experience and not the education?

Imagine paying fees of £3145 a year (which go up every year) plus paying living costs and not getting an education out of it.

If the girl was paying it herself then fair enough that's her money she's wasting but I doubt she will be paying for it herself, not many students do.

in my opinion it is a waste to go purely for the experience! its an blaady expensive experience! LOL

wouldn't be such a thing as University if it wasn't for Education. If it wasn't for education i wouldn't be going. Only gets you in more debt.

i mean you can get the uni life experience by just chillin with ppl who go uni

why wud u wanna get into debt with it... thats kinda crazy but i guess the people that crave freedom whdnt think abt the debts and just go to party?

Exactly what I did lol, half of those people thought I actually went to DMU! That's why on Facebook, some people put that they know me from "Grad School" lol

Exactly! People who I know are in debts up to their eyeballs! The least debt someone I know is in is atleast £16k

In some courses, like computer science you get a year in industry.

University itself is an experience for life.

You'd meet good friends there. Friends that are on your level. Academically and all-sorts.
