Have you ever talked down your abilities, only to be inspired by a lovely comment?

You know how they say kids can say the cruellest things..well I think I must be blessed with the nicest kids this year! I'm doing an art display for the hall wall that is going to be huge - pretty much up the ceiling, yes I'm a nutcase!

Anyway, during class today I was drawing the design for the characters because its based around a book. The kids were so sweet, saying oh your such a good drawer, wow your so good, that's so good Miss (insert surname)...lol..and there I was thinking oh god I can't draw for shit!

It honestly put me in such a good mood and they seem so excited about it, its really lovely.

So this thread, has a point not just me raving on about my fabulous day.

Have you ever talked down your abilities like say my artistic flare (which I still think isn't that flash..but I guess the more practise the better you get right?) but just had a lovely comment said to you that just changes your mood and sees you feel a lit bit more inspired?

Yes, the picture I did of my brother and his Mrs., I haven't done a sketch in so many years and this one turned out to be really good even though I thought I messed some bits up, EVERYONE complimented it even the people who think Art is a waste of time (my parents)

I have a lot of hang ups about my physical appearance.
...Freud would say it's to do with what happened in my childhood...

During a particularly Ugly Period, an aquaintance (who I'd really class as a stranger) took the time out to comment on my "apparent" beauty.
It's always stayed with me.

I've always been put down about my singing and dancing abilities, and I even gave up singing or dancing in public for years...
So, it's nice when you're out and about, people randomly come up to you to ask if you're a professional dancer...

It is a big project Ranj and it seems like you're just as excited as the kids. I think when you're really enjoying something and everyone complies, it gets u on a natural high anyway.

What characters do you have??

I loved drama lessons at school. Everyone, even the teachers, used to look forward to my sketches/shows because most times they'll be laughing so much. I remember, we used to perform alot of shows in assembly and each time we were on, the kids would cheer in anticipation and excitment! Good ol days!

It is around the elves and shoemaker the fairytale..the kids selected it and I've been painting the more 'tricky parts'..basically I'm wanting it to look like the outside of the shoemaker's home..so the background is a stone wall (different shades of brown, greyish blue)...then there's a pole going next to our classroom door with an elf on the pole and at the top of the pole over our classroom door is this sign that reads Elves and the Shoemaker..inside a massive shoe and there's also an elf and a few sewing items around..oh and then there's a little window thing in our door, so I'm having the shoemaker and his wife peeping out!

I just hope it turns out..

Oh you did drama in school nice, yeah I'm having them do a play for assembly, and I'm so proud they know their lines without scripts!
