now im in a position to consider new people, (this is the first time il be doing this!) i have a blank mind..cant think of anything to ask !

criteria obviously, checklist to see if we are compatible.

im a confident girl, usually intimidating to men, but this time, its going to be the other way around! the whole way these things are organised/done makes you feel uneasy and so pressurising!

telll me about it, i went through a similar experience recently..tho id say im ready for marriage..my mind jus froze..and i was disinterested by the whole thing..beside, how and when it was done was a big issue for me..as a result i was not a happy bunny..

hmm..its suming to think bout cos only YOU know yourself more than anyone else..so really think bout what you want in life..take your time with it. no rush

as for me..i think im not your ordinary desi(desi i am) girl...so itll be difficult for my family to get rid of me lol..cos im so complicated...its really a big thing for me at the moment..these rishta meetings..sigh..

My cousin recently found her husband to be through this method.. And with us being so close and the like.. My Mum was brave enough to ask me about it..
Previously, I'd bitten anyones head of at the mere mention of it for many reasons.. Anyway, I've decided that I don't lose anything by keeping this method open..

My cousins first meeting was with a dude that she knew instantly she wouldn't be compatible with so it was really awkward for her 'cause she wanted to get out of the room.. The one with her to be husband.. it was real laid back she said.. they just had a good lengthy chat.. but at the end of it she had still alot to ask and stuff so the families got in touch and arranged for them to communicate again.

interesting thread guys, as im only 23(!) i havnt experienced this yet! but give it a year or two..

anyway, how do you know shes/hes the one? isnt it awkward with the rents sitting next to you when firing questions either way?

Nah you go into a seperate room and chat to them, the first couple of times I thought "Well it's new, I'll give him another chance" but I just couldn't go ahead with it because we just didn't click. It was like I was doing most of the talking (which is hardly much because I'm a quiet person" and he was the one saying to me "I can't believe your this nervous" but he was the one pacing up and down while I was just chilling out :s

Man I can't imagine how awkward it would be trynna chat to a girl to see if she might be "the one" while your parents are sitting right there at least i got a good few years before that happens maybe i'll find someone on my own before then before having to do that

Thankfully I've never had to experience such a thing, my parents will not be telling me that some long lost uncle ji is coming and ask me to 'make some tea' and that its a good idea I look 'presentable'..when low and behold lost uncle ji turns out to have some son, they think is so perfect for me. Oh balle balle, let's get married.

Sorry to burst the bubble..but back to reality!

I kind of feel for you guys but in a way, its what you want to do..so I guess your content with it.

The checklist really comes from you, if you have to ask for a checklist then are you sure your ready for marriage? I mean you should know what you want in a partner to some degree before you sit down and say yes to a proposal.
