I feel your pain Rab C. Why is it that elders are under the misguided impression that marriage sorts everything out when in reality it doesn't. It only screws people's lives up! Nothing like a 'decent' girl or guy from back home eh! Yeah right. Argh... I could say a lot more on this!

I tried to bring it up with my mum again. She wasn't listening and started ranting and raving about what my sister has done.
I'm guessing it's all just the latest idea/phase in trying to control us.

She'll probably forget about it in a few months. Just like she forgot about taking us back home for another family holiday.

I just hate that they use me to teach my older sister lessons.

I need to get rid of these retarded sisters.

It is because of lack of education. Elders are not really clued up as they ought to be, or are only clued to one way of thinking and hence cannot see other points of view or even comprehend it. Also another factor that I think plays a part is that they are from a completely different generation to their children's and there are so many differences and conflicts between the mentality in these two consecutive generations.

Rab C, you should consider getting someone in your family or outside the family who understands your situation and someone who your parents will give the time of day to talk to them if you have not already.

I hate some of the older generation too. Just don't understand their thought process sometimes. I was saying to CP the other day that life with your kids isn't always going to be rosy but it should be a give and take relationship based on trust and honesty. But looking at most asians how many have to lie just to meet up with some mates? It's annoying and a pisstake.

That's like me but I'm not much of the outspoken type, I usually keep things bottled up and then when things kick off, things from 1990/94/98/02/06 come out or whatever year it was that nobody remembers but myself and then they think I'm making it up when really I've been thinking about all those things since they happened which makes me bitter towards them even now. Whenever I talk about leaving, they just laugh and take it as a joke, usually because I say it when I'm angry but yesterday I said it as I was looking at some flats on the net and I said "Do you think I'm joking? What do you think I'm looking at now" but I totally get that you have your responsibilities and stuff that you don't want to leave. Everyone does but you've gotta remember to look after yourself, and sorry to be blunt but your family isn't going to be there forever.
