I'm sure there are a few of you on here who have completed your degree this year or before.

I wanted to know in order to get 1st, what grades do you need in your disso and in your modules final year and what grades should be overall in 2nd year.

I am not sure whether all sure are varied alot or not. But my second year counts for 33% and final year 66%.

Also what would be needed for 2.1

Thanks in advance ')

i am not sure but if its something like 33% then it would be really difficult for u to get a 1st in the third year if u just scraped through 2nd year...if u got a 2:1 and higher in all of ur modules for the 2nd year then it should be simpler..

i just finished 2nd year...it only counts for 5% towards my final degree..so i can still get a 1st in my final year...have to work really hard though...

But overall for 2nd year i am hoping to have A, A, A, B, B

Each Uni has it's own way of calculating degrees. Some might do it a different way, some might be the same.

From what I recall this is what it takes:

(a) Modules which account:
2nd Year: 4 highest grades are used.
3rd Year: ALL 8 modules count (double weight for Final Year Project).

(b) Then all your grades are resolved in the following manner:

So your now 12 modules are added up:

A+ = 12
A = 11
A- = 10
B+ = 9
B = 8
B- = 7
C+ = 6
C = 5
C- 4
D+ = 3
D = 2
D- = 1

(c) The total of your Grade points must equal 110 and you must get 5 A's in your final year.

(d) If you get 5 A's and get below 110 points, you become borderline, and likewise if you get 110 points and less than 5 A's.

Example: AAA-B AAAAABB = 111 Points and 5 A's = 1st Class.

I think 2:1 is the same but instead with B's and likewise a 2:2 is with C's. I don't know the details of those though.

Easy Peasy Japanezey. :D

I didn't ask a question. Plus he was addressing you. As in even in Recession and the long since offshoring of UK IT you still believe that people in IT are enjoying a "NICE SALARY!".

Trust me on this. I work in IT.

You work in IT, what do you do? is your degree in Information Systems? and is your job related?

Secondly I have MANY friends working in the IT sector. They are all enjoying a Good salary. Even now.
