Race, Gender and Jobs

Anyways umm everyone was talkin in the office earlier about the carers.. Most the managers agreed that they were suprised there are so many male carers, and then someone added "Alot of them are asian too". EVERYONE was nodding to this.. They said they didn't expect asian men to be doing such a job. At first I thought nahh they're wrong.. I mean some of our most caring, hard-working carers are asian. But then I thought about the asian males I know.. I couldn't really see many of them doing domicilliary care because they would consider it a female oriented career.. As they're more into office based jobs or garages and stuff..

Do you think there are certain jobs that are considered to be for women/men? Are there any jobs you would not do because you feel it's more suitable for the opp. sex?

If you wanted a job in one of the areas that are considered to be gender-oriented, would you let that stop you? Or would you go for it regardless of the ideologies..

Also apply these questions to different races..

I was studyin Sport in college and that was male dominated...2 or 3 girls only...i was the only asian girl...but it dint phase me...not havin a P.E. GCSE however did...so i quit...

Im doing Psychology in Uni and if its anything like college i'll be on a course full of girls...

there is only me and 1 guy who are asians doing sport at uni.

but there are 5 asians who work at barclaycard !
who would have thought it?
they actually let asians deal with finances...
the world has progressed. lol
