I can't see how anyone can celebrate something which caused over a million deaths.

Thanks to the partition, Muslims actually had a chance. You should ask your 'rents on what sort of roles and positions Muslim's got before the partition.

But I don't celebrate it anyway, it's just acknowledged.

Sure it opened oppurtunities, it was created in the name of religion yet it opened opportunity for pure political corruptness, to wage war against its brother country (east pakistan i.e. bangladesh) caused the death of millions, during partition and after...even to this day.

Nothing to celebrate, it caused more division between the Ummah than actually do good - which was the purpose behind its creation.

I can understand that but over a million died for more opportunities. Is that something to celebrate? Or just to acknowledge as you do?

    What a load of BULL!

What exactly is being celebrated? is there much to celebrate about?
A known corrupt ruler in power, who is playing along with America in killin and displacing the Pakistani people in SWAT and along the NWFP. Using its own troops in killing its own people.

Kashmir saga STILL not resolved, constant meddling by external factors in Pakistan politics, thousands dead, starving and homeless, is that summit to celebrate about?

Puttin up pics of smiling Pakistanis doesnt show the true nature of what is happening in Pakistan.

Independence has brought nothing but problems after problems, and 'if' the independence was done for religious purposes, then why is all the above happening? and been happening for the last 60+ years?

Okay hold up. People usually say the argument that India should've never been divided. India was never "always one". There used to be kingdoms/areas of rule all over the indo-pak-beng region ruled by dif families. It was the muslims that actually conquered the area (the Mughals) and then united it.

Before the partition, Pakistan did not have a single bank. All the splurge of Doctors, Engineers, Architects, Accountants etc. came after the divide. Before the divide there was nothing. Muslims were economically surpressed to the max. Who knows if Jinnah expected the outcome, for he was never really an Islamic leader, but a politician. Unfortunately, that politcian's oppurtunity cost for Pakistan was bloodshed and most probably he was okay with that. I doubt the so called muslim countries could do much better since Pakistan is the only Muslim Nuclear power in the world. With Iran close behind of course.

    Hip hip stinkin hooray LOL.

I don't wanna get into this convo coz I got a hell of a lot of hoepinions. But quickly let me run something off the bat:

Everything wasn't hunky dorey when Pakistone-age and India-ss was one country. There was a lot of shit that went on for Muslims in India back when. For example, murder, rape, kidnap etc, my gramps said that your own doctor wanted you dead. I mean a doctor is a educated person, when a person of that responsibility and intelligence wants you dead, you know somethings gone really bad with the system.

Pakistan was supposed to be a place where those Muslims can go and live free from that; They could again live as they did in India, but without the unsettlement that was becoming rife in India at the time.

But Qaid-E-Azam died before he was able to really make Pakistan what it was intended to be. Now? It's become so ravaged by bad leaders and a ever stupider population the country is frankly disgusting.

I find it revolting and a sad image of what it was supposed to be. But who am I? I'm born and bred in England UK, I been Pakistan all of what 8 weeks? in my life. I'm only Pakistani because I have to write that on a form to satisfy the government and various organisations' and their equal rights policies. Butt fuck that, that's off topic.

I'm not against the reason for Pakistan to exist, I just think the message has been corrupted since its inception.

At the end of the day: the bitterness of when a brother falls out with his brother is deeper than that with those who are not of your own blood. This is the thing with Pakistanis and Indians, they hate each other's guts with severe rivalry. Why? Because we're too much like each other for comfort. We are the same.

I won't sing Dil Dil Pakistan, but I won't piss on it for it did mean when well when it was first created. But much much more prevalent is a feeling of dissapointment that Indians, Pakistanis, Sri Lankans and Bangladeshis just couldn't live along side each other like brothers... But Politics is that mutherfucker satan spreads itself through.....

Not sure who your post was directed to but if it was to me then I've never said I was against the partition. I just don't see any reason to celebrate it...
