    Default Interview Zanjeer

At the request of zanjeer and a somewhat spin-off from off-topic posts from the Dr. Zakir Naik thread I have made this thread so anyone can ask zanjeer about his departure from Islam.

Can I request whoever wishes to contribute or post in this thread not to be abusive or offensive, that obviously includes you too zanjeer as well as myself.

So zanjeer since you have mentioned you have no problems being asked questions or interviewed by people of AP can you start off by telling us as to what exactly lead you to leave/reject Islam...?

I would also like to know his views on other religions. I will get into more detail with this later.

How long did it take you to do your research that made you leave Islam?

    Views on other religions?

The huge difference between you and rab is rab has left Islam to but although she questions she don't tend to go on a crusade in fighting against Islam..
what made you go on this crusade in the e-world and even in real life as you did mention you go to certan islamic events, (I guess this is to do with why you left?)
note: Not trying to use the word crusade offensivley

What do you feel you get out of you debating on islam with other muslims?

Why is Islam STILL a huge part of your life? I mean i no your not practising it but you stil engage in it, even if it is in a negative way... it's still centre to who you are? right?

BLAH I normally don't get involved in this cuz i don't have all the knowledge to but curiosity kills the cat, I ain't going to slander you and stuff. .some people tend to name call you rather then discuss with you prob cuz the knowledge ain't there but they still feel they need to protect their faith which is understandable as a muslim but one should not start name calling, it's immature and childish.. goes to both sides!

do you believe in a deity ?

I would describe myself as more 'spiritual' then religious'. I believe there is a creator. The way i see it is, It would take a very powerful force to create the universe we live in and somehow have it function everyday and sustain life. Look at the world around you, it's all so complicated and amazing that someone or something had to have designed it. The complexity and the intelliegence required is clearly beyond human capability, it would clearly require a great and powerful force to have the ability to make a world where everything functions how it does. Makes perfect sense for there to be a creator.

Religion has it's good points and bad points, i think for many without religion they would simply lack the common sense to distinguish from right and wrong and their morality would decay. On the other hand man has created god in his own image to make society believe in his own gimmicks to manipulate and control the masses.

This is why it is a duty on every muslim to seek knowledge so you can discuss with other non-muslims with good standing. Otherwise they will think there is no answer to their questions.

I would like to know what you think will become of you in the afterlife; if you believe in it: when you die is it curtains or is there some continuation?

And what do you think of sea-turtles?

Oh and one more thing. Do you believe in Sex before Marraige? In a previous post it clearly suggests that you don't believe in it. You failed to explain why, so can I have the answer now?

i know a few years ago there was a muslim family (in lancashire/yorkshire i think), that converted 2 christianity, and then they were targeted by the muslim community for it.... likewise, have have u found urself on the recieving end of some kinda hate by muslims that know ur no longer interested in being muslim?

on the other hand, when some ppl have a negative view on islam, do u (as a third person), feel the need to stand up 4 it n defend with what knowledge u do have from when u were a muslim or do u just let it be, thinking its not u nomore so it dsnt matter?

I gradually discovered more and more things about Islam which I disagreed with, felt uncomfortable with, and things which completely go against common sense/science.

Initially, you go through a phase of denial, or you try to rationalise some of these things… but you can only do that for so long.

Most Muslims are born into the religion of Islam. Initially, we are all ignorant believers. I eventually turned into a well informed disbeliever.

Because they just wouldn’t comprehend the fact that I left Islam. I might tell some of my siblings/cousins some day though.

My knowledge of other religions is limited. I don’t believe in any of them though.

I particularly dislike religions with an expansionist agenda.

I can confidently speak about Islam… but I can’t confidently speak about Christianity or Judaism or Hinduism or Sikhism or Buddhism or Scientology etc.

From what I do know with my limited knowledge, I probably disagree with at least a few things from these other religions, and I probably agree with some things too.

    For example:

Christianity – I disagree with the concept of hell for disbelievers, and the creationism, and the Trinity doesn’t make much sense to me either.

Judaism – Creationism again, plus I disagree with not working on the sabbath.

Hinduism – I disagree with the caste system (who knows, maybe the caste system isn’t really anything to do with Hinduism? I can’t comment on this). The concept of many Gods doesn’t make sense either (but then again, some Hindus say that a true Hindu only believes in ONE God… I’m none the wiser tbh).

Sikhism – I disagree with not cutting my hair, but I get the feeling the Sikhism doesn’t have an expansionist agenda. ie it doesn’t say that everyone has to be a Sikh or else they’re evil and they’re doomed.

Buddhism - I don't know squat about Buddhism.

Scientology - Er... all I know about Scientology is that Tom Cruise advocates it.
